Candle Making Classes Have Arrived at Scentarama (and Refill Packs Are on the Way)
If you've ever lit one of our candles and thought, "I wonder how this is actually made?" — now's your chance to find out. Scentarama is officially running hands-on candle making classes, and we're just as excited about it as we hope you are.
Whether you're after a fun night out, a mother-daughter activity, a hens' party with a difference, or simply a few quiet hours doing something with your hands instead of your phone, our candle making classes are designed to be relaxed, welcoming, and genuinely satisfying — no experience necessary.
What Happens in a Scentarama Candle Making Class
Every class is taught in small groups so everyone gets proper hands-on time and one-on-one help when they need it. You'll learn the real techniques we use to make our own candles, including:
Understanding wax — why we choose a soy and natural beeswax blend, and how it compares to paraffin, pure soy, and pure beeswax candles
Wick selection — how the right cotton wick is matched to your jar for a clean, even burn
Fragrance blending — how to calculate fragrance load and choose a scent that suits the room it's going in
Melt, pour and cure — the step-by-step process from melting wax safely through to a properly cured, ready-to-burn candle
You'll leave with your own hand-poured soy-beeswax candle, plus the confidence (and know-how) to understand exactly what goes into every candle you burn at home.
Why We Started Offering Classes
Scentarama has always been about bringing beautifully scented, honestly made home fragrance into Australian homes — without the consultant markup or the pressure of a party-plan sales model. Running our own candle making classes felt like a natural next step: instead of just telling you what's in our candles, we can show you, in person, hands in the wax.
It's also just genuinely fun. There's something satisfying about pouring your own candle and watching it set — and a lot of our class guests tell us it's the first time they've properly slowed down in weeks.

Here's something else we're excited about: refill packs for your Scentarama candle jars are coming soon.
Once you've fallen in love with a scent (or a jar you don't want to part with), you'll be able to refill it at home instead of buying a whole new candle each time. It's a simple change that means:
Less waste — your jar gets a second (and third, and fourth) life instead of going in the recycling
Better value — a refill will cost less than a full new candle, jar and all the same great scent throw — made with the same soy and beeswax blend and fragrance oils you already know

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any experience to do a candle making class?
No experience is needed at all. Classes are taught step-by-step and suit complete beginners as well as anyone who's dabbled in candle making before.
What wax do you use in class? A blend of soy wax and natural beeswax — the same combination we use in our own candles — chosen for its clean burn, smooth finish and subtle natural warmth.
Will I take a candle home with me? Yes. Every guest leaves with their own hand-poured candle to cure and burn at home.
When will refill packs be available? Refill packs are still in development. We'll announce the launch date, scents and pricing on our blog and social media as soon as they're ready.
Where are classes held? Classes are run in person in Perth at Morrissey Blinds and Interiors at U20/21 Global Road, Neerabup which is not too far from Joondalup/Wanneroo area with plenty of parking at the venue.
